Pasma
Training
PASMA (Prefabricated Access Suppliers’ and Manufacturers’ Association) Training is a highly valued course designed for professionals involved in the assembly, use, inspection, and dismantling of mobile access towers. These courses ensure workers are trained to a high standard of safety and competency, thereby reducing workplace accidents and improving efficiency. On completion, delegates are awarded a PASMA card as proof of their understanding of the necessary safety regulations and practical implementation.
IPAF
Training
The International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) Training is a comprehensive course aimed at personnel who use powered access equipment, such as mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs) and aerial work platforms (AWPs). This training ensures operators have the necessary skills to operate such machinery safely and efficiently. Upon successful completion of the IPAF training, participants receive a Powered Access License (PAL) card, which is widely recognized and accepted across industries worldwide.
Harness
Training
Harness Training gives participants the key skills needed to use and inspect fall protection equipment safely. The course is straightforward and practical, ensuring workers understand how to use harnesses safely and confidently in the workplace. We also offer harness sales with a unique benefit – when you purchase harnesses from us, all inspections are free for the full lifespan of the harness, helping you stay compliant with no extra cost. On completion of training, each participant receives a certificate proving their competence in harness use.
Training
At Tyne and Wear Access, our training services are delivered from a purpose-built training centre, designed to provide a safe, professional learning environment for industry professionals. We offer a wide range of professional qualifications for both individuals and groups, including PASMA, IPAF, Harness, and Working at Height training, all delivered by experienced and supportive instructors. Training can be provided in-house or on-site, and we operate 7 days a week to suit your business needs. All training courses include lunch and refreshments, ensuring a comfortable and productive learning experience.

Machine Hire
Machine Hire at Tyne and Wear Access offers a wide selection of state-of-the-art machinery tailored to suit the diverse needs of our clients. From powered access equipment such as MEWPs and AWPs to telehandlers, we ensure the machines you rent are in excellent condition and meet the highest safety standards. Our experts are available to advise you on the most suitable equipment for your specific requirements, ensuring optimal performance and productivity.
Machine Hire
Our Machine Hire service provides reliable, modern access equipment for projects of all sizes. We offer daily, weekly, and long-term hire, with free operator training available on long-term hire agreements. All equipment is maintained to the highest safety standards, and our experienced team is on hand to help you select the most suitable machinery for your project.
Truck
Mounted Access
Flexible access solutions using truck-mounted platforms offering working heights from 12 to 46 metres. Truck mounted access equipment is ideal for commercial, industrial, and maintenance projects where speed and reach are essential. Available with an IPAF-approved operator for half-day or full-day hire, providing a safe, efficient, and cost-effective access solution for a wide range of site requirements.
Tracked
Access Equipment
We operate a fleet of Hinowa tracked spider lifts providing working heights from 12 to 26 metres. Tracked access equipment is ideal for locations with restricted access, uneven ground, or delicate flooring. Available for self-hire or operated hire, these machines are commonly used in churches, sports halls, and tight access environments where traditional access equipment is unsuitable.
Access
Equipment Hire
We offer a wide range of modern access equipment for hire, including MEWPs, AWPs, and telehandlers, suitable for construction, industrial, warehousing, and maintenance projects. Equipment is available for daily, weekly, or long-term hire, with free training available on long-term hire agreements, ensuring safe, compliant, and productive operation across all sites.
IPAF Training
3A Mobile Vertical
The 3A Mobile Vertical course at Tyne and Wear Access equips operators with necessary skills for safe operation of vertical personnel platforms and mobile vertical lifts, such as scissor and vertical boom lifts. The course includes pre-operation checks, emergency procedures, and driving techniques, leading to a recognized IPAF certification upon successful completion.
3B Mobile Boom
Tyne and Wear Access’s 3B Mobile Boom course provides essential training for safe operation of mobile boom lifts or cherry pickers. It covers equipment inspection, hazard recognition, safety measures, and emergency procedures, with practical lessons on positioning and manoeuvring. Successful completion leads to an IPAF certification, confirming proficiency in operating these machines safely.
1B Static Boom
Tyne and Wear Access’s 1B Static Boom course imparts essential skills for safely operating static boom lifts, including truck-mounted platforms and spider lifts. The program covers equipment inspection, hazard identification, safety precautions, and emergency procedures, alongside practical lessons on machine positioning and manoeuvring. Successful completion leads to an IPAF certification, confirming the operator’s competence.
Pav – Push around vehicle
Tyne and Wear Access’s PAV course provides vital training for the operation of push-around vehicles. The course covers elements like equipment inspection, hazard identification, safety measures, and emergency handling, as well as hands-on instruction in effective vehicle control and manoeuvring. On successful completion, participants receive an IPAF certification, affirming their proficiency in safely operating these vehicles.
